At COACH London we understand the importance of a positive mindset.
In 2011, psychologist, Martin Seligman, identified five key elements which determine our individual happiness and satisfaction. Positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning and accomplishment (PERMA). These elements are ever more pertinent in the current challenging times.
Since Seligman’s discovery, health behaviours have been added to the concept of PERMA which contribute to wellbeing.
Positive Emotion
Engaging in hobbies, interests and activities that create positive feelings.
Engagement
Identifying personal strengths and passions and activating these in your day to day life.
Relationships
Building healthy and strong connections with those of similar interests, values and morals.
Meaning
Connecting with things that create purpose and meaning in your life and identifying ways to put these into action.
Accomplishments
Set yourself realistic goals. Goals which are important and personal to you.
Healthy behaviour
Undertaking physical activity, improving your sleep quality, focusing on nutrition and cultivating positive stress management techniques have also show to enhance a positive wellbeing.
Seligman’s analysis and health behaviours align with our core values at COACH London and support why we believe mind contributes significantly to overall wellbeing.
